Arab Street (by Nene, warning: this is also old)

This is also from awhile back when I played tour guide and we went to Arab Street to check out Masjid Sultan and the area. Ahh now I know why I suggested the place, cause I was interested in applying to the History Channel but I didn't really find any juicy stories about the mosque when we were there. Did take some nice pics though.

We even went inside the mosque and this was my first time actually stepping inside. Did the audio tour thing. Oh yeah I was inappropriately dressed and had to put on this jubah. So unglam. Makcik siput anyone? :)

And then we were just wandering around when we came across the Malay Heritage Centre and I realised I'd never seen the place before either so we decided to check it out. There was a batik exhibition by Sarkasi Said and then there were these rooms outside and we went into one with the sign 'Ceramic Workshop: Artist in session' or something like that cause I was curious. There was this elderly man doing some pottery and he was really nice and started talking to us and asking us questions about ourselves and all that and then after awhile it hit me that he's actually Iskandar Jalil! Pretty cool :)

Okay seeing how Arlin has been blogging loads and turned this into a food blog, thought I'd step up and add my 2 cents worth. But I have actually not been doing much at all (except for work weekends, public holidays and till real late but I shall absolutely not whine about that)...but right after typing that I realised that a few things have been happening but we've kinda just stopped taking pictures (since the camera started working all strange) and we hardly ever upload the pics on our phones to the puter (since it started getting sooooo slow), so I'll have to go back in time and work with what we've got.

So right...I was at Mount Faber. For the first time ever! And finally did that walk thingy. The Henderson Waves, Treetop Walk and all of that. And here are the pics.

So this whole walk took place ages ago during the fasting month. Imagine that..the sweltering heat, no food nor drink. But it was really nice to finally be there and see it.

And then after that we had dinner and I broke fast at Java Kitchen I think the place is called at Dhoby Ghaut and ate this:

Not quite apple strudel.

I made this yesterday....felt like making something a little different..but nothing too complicated. Basically I just peeled some granny smiths and sliced them. Then I added some raisins, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla sugar and some lemon juice and zest. Then I got some filo pastry...brushed it with butter and added the apple mixture and rolled it up and baked...and that was pretty much it. :)

Next time i'll make a proper studel k?

I Made KangKong Belacan!

I had this quite a bit when I was in SG....but I still had a craving for it a few days ago so we got some kangkong from the Asian store and I made it for dinner today! Had to google the recipe cause I've never made it before and I didn't know how to make it...but it tasted pretty decent in the end..and I was pleased. Sigh...miss Ma & Ba's cooking...so much easier at home...no need to kopek bawang and make all the rempah and tumis-tumis segala!....the apartment still smells belacan-y now...perhaps that's why I can't sleep. Hm.

Medve & Blueberry Pancakes.

I felt like some blueberry pancakes so we made some for breakfast last Sunday but unfortunately I used this rubbish mix that tasted awful so i'm gonna have to get some better pancake mix...(or make the batter from scratch if i'm not too lazy) and try to make this again.

This was pretty disappointing....the batter was salty and the pancakes tasted weird.

I mean seriously..how can anyone screw up pancake mix??

Entrecote met aardappelpuree en snijbonen.

This was nothing fancy...just some steak, mashed potatoes and beans I had for dinner last weekend...but I took a pic of it because..

1.) I hardly make mashed potatoes from scratch. (Its just so much work..and i'm too lazy to peel potatoes...and I still don't have a potato masher or ricer!)

2.) We hardly have matsaleh food for dinner even though we're in matsaleh-land because we just love our spicy food. :)

I absolutely cannot remember what this cake is called.

I made this last week....I cheated again :p...yes it was from a box which i've dumped in the trash and I don't recall what the cake is called. Anyway it was pretty good....a little too sweet for me perhaps....it was kinda like a standard sponge with a hint of citrus..(I'm guessing orange?)...oh and tiny bits of chocolate too.

I sprinkled some almonds on top before I baked the cake and I couldn't stop picking them off afterwards. I blame Ma for that. :p

Had some leftover chocolate ganache from something else I made so I used that to decorate the plate.

Hazelnut Yoghurt

This was obviously not something I made...but I saw it at the supermarket and thought i'd try...and it was quite good. And no, I don't usually like yoghurt....i'm still looking for chocolate yoghurt btw...has anyone ever had some? No I don't mean chocolate kwark or mousse or toetje...I mean chocolate yoghurt. Hmmph.

Buchty

I made these Czech buns sometime last week I think. They're basically like small buns with filling inside. It was my first time making them...and I used this pre-mix we got a few months ago in the Czech Republic or Slovakia....I can't remember.

I added oil and yeast to the mix and had to let the dough rise for about an hour. Then I rolled out the dough and added the fillings. Used two different kinds of prune jam, raspberry jam and some chocolate :)

Brushed them with some melted butter before baking.

The finished product. Quite yummy. Maybe next time i'll try to make it from scratch.

I'm blogging again!

Hey sisters,

Sorry I haven't been in touch much....can't believe i've been back for almost a month now. Anyways....I've kinda missed blogging...so i've been making some stuffies in the kitchen..and taking pics...here goes. :)

Kugelhupf. (I know...this cake is very nenek-nenek. :p)

I've been flipping through my collection of recipe books we got from all the trips...and I picked up the one we got in Vienna....and I thought i'd try to make something...since I've barely tried any of the recipes from all those books. Anyways I settled on this cake...and we went out specially to the Cook & Co store at the Amsterdam Arena woonmall just to get the pan. :)

The cake turned out sorta ok in the end...but not so great...some parts in the centre weren't really cooked properly. Bleh....think i'll have to try to make it again sometime.

Kueh Lapis!

I tried another kueh today....and i'm glad everyone liked it! Phew....heheh...this one was a bit leceh to make...had to stand in front of the steamer for almost an hour to do the layers..but it was well worth the effort :)

I still can't quite believe i'm trying out all these kueh recipes....it is actually kinda fun..whee!

Yesterday I tried making kueh kosui...and it turned out pretty decent! Phew..:0) Always tricky with these traditional kuehs...especially because I have no experience making them at all...and there are all these weird ingredients that you have to add....really have no idea how they'll turn out....

Pulau Ubin

Okay this is pretty old and everyone knows about it now but here are my pics from when I was overseas and went to......Pulau Ubin!!

Did you guys know that it is just 5 minutes away and the bumboat ride from Changi costs only $2.50? I bet one could swim across if one really wanted to.

First glimpse off Pulau Ubin (it's all very quaint and rustic and undeveloped. Chaaarming really :))

The sights at Ubin. A kelong and this old quarry (according to my non-Singaporean guide...seriously I should be ashamed :)..I don't know a thing about Ubin. BTW another trivia fact...vehicles there have the license plates 'PU'!!)

Our ride there...yes apparently loads and loads of people go there in the weekends to mountain bike! It was really fun and I enjoyed touring the island by bike.

And then we saw this house where they had an exhibition of Ubin's wildlife and the conservation works that's been taking place there. And afterwards we go to the nature reserve park and check out the crabbies and mangroves and spot this lobster (can eat or not you think?)

I thought this picture and the legend behind Pulau Sekudu was really cute.

Day at the Museum

Hallo! Yes I'm finally blogging again!! Sorry it's taken me ages, but damn Facebook lah. And then now I'm also gonna recycle some pics from there so this could be repetitive and boring (if anyone's gonna complain then don't read this post :p) But I haven't been taking so many new pics lately..hmm maybe will start doing that again soon!

So anyways a few weeks ago Sumi and I went to the National Museum to check out the Christian Lacroix exhibition. It was really interesting and we had lots of fun.

First we had lunch at Coffee Club. This was yummy.

Then we played with this interactive exhibit. Wires and pipes and stuff with magnets. Quite fun really.

Me at the local herbs/spices section. Think I was trying to smell kaffir lime leaves or something but very penipu, no smell at all.

Sumi took these pics. I forgot to bring my camera. We didn't get any pics of the Lacroix pieces but these were pretty cool. Pink tanks!

Guess who's back!

Whoa oh.

Anyway on the 30th of May, it was KC's family day.

This year's KCFD was bigger than usual as it was open to the community.

Because of that, we couldn't handle food as in we couldn't make food to sell.

Instead, the school got sponsors like Subway, Starbucks, Ben & Jerry's, etc.

Each class was given at least two things to be in charge of and my class,

204, got some curry chicken thing and Starbucks!

And we earned a lot of money. Cooooool.

Secondary 401 and 402 was in charge of the human sphere and the haunted house.

I didn't go into the haunted house this year again.

Damn penakut.

HAHAHAHA.

And secondary 205 did the girogym or something.

While eating P.F. Chang's and watching Jon and Kate plus 8's shenanigans, we ended up being alerted to the program airing right after them on TLC. It's a show called Cake Boss, following the travails of a cake chef in Hoboken, New Jersey. The cakes he makes are just amazing, including an easter bunny, a fire truck and some other stuff I've forgotten. Does this show air in Singapore?

Aftermath of our US trip

Another trip aftermath post...

Our typical shopping trips to Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, Bath and Bodyworks, VS etc....all my favourite stores in the US....

Yes we got all kinds of stuff...

At least it wasn't all food this time...ohhh...I got a box of the gourmet Jelly Beans btw...again thanks to Jon and Kate Plus 8! :D Really curious about some of the flavours...will take them to SG so we can try together k?

We also got candy! I'll take them to SG as well...hehe I have to share...don't want to get so gemukky.

Some books and pressies ;) Oh and a travel scrabble! DD is becoming too fanatical....but he still keeps losing...heheh :D

We are having great fun with the Nerf guns....it is so much fun to shoot each other!....next time we're in the US we'll definitely get more guns and ammo...so we can ALL play together!!! :D Hahahah...

Oh I have another big scrabble set now....can't wait to play with more people....DD is too easy to beat! :p

Random stuffies.

We also got some DVDs and Blu-ray discs. 27 new movies in total and we've already watched quite a few of those. :)

We picked up a few shoes this time....even DD got shoes too...and Neno..i'm not an octopus!! What's wrong with 8 new pairs? People run out of shoes you know. :p

Jon And Kate Plus 8 (And because I didn't want this to be a food blog. :p )

I've recently become addicted to watching Jon and Kate Plus 8...I made DD record every episode that's broadcast here...and I watch and re-watch at least one or two episodes a day. The new season just started in the US...and the gossip rags are plastered with sensational stories about the couple when we were there! (That's probably still the case now...so kesian the kids! :(

I actually bought rubbish tabloids...just to read about them! (and i've never bought a single tabloid)They're on pretty much every single magazine cover! Even DD is hooked now...he's been asking me about them daily...and he actually googles and reads articles and stuff about them...and he sends me tons of links from work!...hahahah...we've both become like ultimate kaypohs. :p (Btw there's a fun game/quiz on their website which I played quite a bit a few days ago...go check it out)

Oh and I got this DVD too in the US...since Dutch DTL haven't shown this season...idiots....I can't believe they keep repeating the same old episodes over and over and over again. Argh!!!

PS: I hope Jon and Kate patch up.

PPS: I love Cara, Mady, Alexis, Leah, Hannah, Collin, Joel and Aaden. :D

I used the chocolate fondue set I got for DD in Sweden last year for the first time..Neno you have one too right? Did you ever use yours?

It actually works pretty well. Maybe we should try it with cheese next time..

I think i'm gonna be sick of strawberries soon enough.

But they looked very good.

But wayyy too many of them.

And my strawberry plant just started producing tiny strawberries! I hope they grow...although i'm not sure if i'll actually eat them...

And this is DD's line. "At least we're eating fruit. And chocolate is a fruit too. :D"

Red Lobster

Red Lobster

We tried another new chain! This time we focused on seafood...or we tried to at least...so Red Lobster seemed to be a good choice. We had lunch here on our last day before leaving for the airport.

My salad with blue cheese dressing and REALLLY delicious biscuits...these are the best biscuits I have EVER had...betul tak bedek. :)

DD's plain salad...(the fussypot doesn't like dressing...tsk.)

We shared an appetiser again...but of course DD had to have chicken at a seafood place...mine was a dish of yummy mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat..macam gratin like thing...oh topped with lots of cheese too obviously...

Then I had garlic butter shrimp and fried ciutat scallops and mashed potatoes.

DD had mahi mahi with fries.

And we had Key lime pie for dessert! ( I wanted to try Key lime pie after seeing it on an episode of Jon and Kate plus 8! :)

Overall it was okay...I wouldn't mind going to another Red Lobster again....

PS: I'm still craving for chilli crabs!!

PPS: I wanna go home...cause sisters we still have to go to Jumbo!!!!!

P.F. Chang's

P.F. Chang's

Another one of our US staples has become P.F. Chang's. It's supposed to be Chinese food but its nothing like any Chinese food you'd find in Singapore....but it's pretty yummy...and you get fortune cookies!!

DD was so kind...he went out and got takeout cause I was tired...and actually...I simply didn't want to miss Jon and Kate Plus 8. It was the second episode of season 5...and the tension was palpable. We needed to know how Jon and Kate were doing! And I bet half of America was watching too :p

Having dinner in the living area of the hotel room...unfortunately P.F. Chang's forgot to give us cutlery this time...so we makaned with our fingers but DD of course called room service for plates, knives and forks...so action. :p

I had crispy green beans.

We thought this would be Sichuan Beef but it was more like a salad. Disappointing.

The kungpao chicken was pretty good.

Some kinda dish called Hot Fish. It was actually quite nice. And I love the containers they used for the rice..macam kat tv!

PS: No Great Wall of Chocolate for dessert this time...we were too stuffed and we had Godiva. :D But the one we had in Phoenix was phenomenal!!!

We were out shopping at a Wal-Mart supercentre and we got hungry...so we had lunch at Chilli's after that....we wanted to try a new chain this time...as we usually end up at the same places.

Baked potato soup topped with lots of cheese...(mine obviously, since DD doesn't like soup.)

I ordered another trio platter like thing again.

A non-restaurant interlude

I went for a manicure...and while I was having my nails done...guess what the notty DD bought at the mall....i'm amazed he didn't buy a bigger box though...

Later we went to another Godiva store together...and I adopted a new bunny...:D
And we got more chocolates obviously....we're even members of the Godiva chocolate rewards club now...and we have a card each!

I named her Diva.

We never miss Ruth's Chris each time we're in the US...we've actually even been to one outside the US...in Taipei of all places..haha...anyways...this time we celebrated my birthday at the Ruth's Chris in Tarrytown, NY.

I tried a different appetiser for a change...had these yummy crabcakes...

APPLEBEE'S

I absolutely LOVE Applebee's. It sounds cute and the food is good...(although the past few times i've ended up ordering the same stuff..DD too!)

This was my meal...it was the ultimate trio or something...you could choose 3 items...I had nachos with spinach and artichoke dip (and it was sooo yummy), mini cheeseburgers and some boneless buffalo wings.

DD had his usual crispy chicken tenders and fries.

Oh and the service is pleasant too. Especially the waitress this time...her name was G...check out what she did to the receipt. :)

IHOP!

We had breakfast at IHOP....International House Of Pancakes.

Steak for breakfast?

DD's nutella/banana/strawberry crepes.

My massive omelette with mushrooms, chunks of steak,tomatoes, peppers, shredded potatoes etc...oh and cheese...lots of cheese...GEMUK!

And mine came with 3 of these buttermilk pancakes as a side!...I couldn't eat the pancakes at all...DD hepched me makan one...and he was very stuffed. Neno would've loved it. They had all kinds of syrups on the side too...maple and strawberry and butter pecan! Yum.

PS: I feel kinda sick looking at these pics now.

PPS: We both need to go on a diet.

Serendipity 3

We were supposed to go to this place the last time we were in NY...but never made it. Its up on E60th near Bloomingdales. We shared everything...and still ended up extremely stuffed...the portion sizes are gigantic! We couldn't finish dessert.

We started off with these nachos..

Then we had some kinda chicken which was baked then fried...and served with potato wedges.

Oh..and they also had a special $1000 sundae (you have to pre-order it at least 2 days in advance)...which comes in a crystal goblet and served with special vanilla and actual gold leaf/dust thing..and we asked the waiter guy...and he said they actually sell about 10-14 of those a year!...hm. Insane. Totallly insane.

And then dessert...this was some extremely rich and dense chocolate cake with ice cream...lots of hot fudge and whipped cream and chocolate chip morsels...muakkkkkk.

These desserts look ciutat in the pics...but they were HUGE...

This is their famous frozen hot chocolate...I actually read about this in some guidebook in February..and I bugged DD to go Serendipity so we could try it!

Another Birthday Package from Ila!

I got a voicemail message from DHL a few days ago....said they tried to deliver a package for me from Singapore....and cause we were away...they left us notices....so DD called and we arranged for another delivery...and I was soooo excited when I got the box....

Inside was all sorts of things...it was like a care package!...There was a birthday card...and Jepun beauty products ;)...and calbee chips and yummy seaweed and a ducky pen and a pretty card and some handmade flowers and a nice frame of us...Ila, Nene and Me....sigh...miss those good ol days :)

The Ducky Pen....sooo adorable...haha she still remembers how much I like stuff like that :)

WE MADE BREAD!

Remember that DK Children's cookbook Ma and Neno got for me? Well we tried out the bread recipe from there...actually we've made the bread twice now...the first time it came out a little too salty...second time we reduced the salt...and it wasn't too bad..but I think the texture wasn't all that great...it kinda felt like pound cake instead of bread...think we'll try it again another time...but probley work with fresh yeast instead....problem is we can't seem to find that stuff around here. Ugh. :(

We sprinkled some sesame and poppy seeds on top..that was kinda different.

Birthday Flowers!

DD came home today and gave me a nice HUGE bouquet of red roses...and some pretty white small flowers....that was such a pleasant surprise! He said they were for my birthday....:)

Sandwich mania/phase/obsession.

Hiya sisters and mommy,

Remember I mentioned about us making sandwiches like the past few weeks? Anyways we took some piccies then.....and i'm blogging now to show you how insanely huge our sandwiches were....at one point...DD's lips even bled profusely cause he opened his mouth soooo wide to take a bite...and his lips cracked...ouch!

This was DD's sandwich obviously...with turkey and radishes (eww)...and egg yolks and gherkins, and carrots and cucumber and peppers and and and...lots of other stuff...malas nak type semua :p

Strawberries!

We were doing our usual grocery shopping last night at Makro...and I thought we should be healthy and get some fruit...and they had lots of strawberries on sale...so we ended up with a 2 kilo box for only like 3 euros or something! (I'm sooo tempted to take some when I go home actually but i'm not sure if they'll survive a 13hr flight! :(

And we had them for dessert earlier....with melted chocolate of course...and I made some chocolate coated strawberries and i'm letting those set now...can't wait to have some tomorrow! Yummyyy...

Blogging Because I'm Bored.

We don't celebrate Easter...but I do love Easter bunnies, Easter eggs and Easter chocolates...so we did some fun Easter stuffies sometime last month.

First up we coloured Easter eggs....we used the colouring DD got in Switzerland..and we added vinegar.

We just did the plain colours...will try the others another time.

Leaving the eggs to dry. The blue turned out really well...and and we combined red and blue and got a purple egg!

Then we had an Easter breakfast....

Chocolate Mousse

It doesn't matter that the other sisters aren't all that keen to blog. I still want to tempt them and show them my stuff...:P Anyway I made some chocolate mousse the other day...cause I still had some chocolate ganache leftover from the Sachertorte we made. Anyway I filled some dessert wine glasses with the mousse...and I dusted some cocoa powder...and sprinkled some crunchy toasted ground hazelnut on top. Enjoy!

Blog Revival?

Hm. It has definitely been awhile. But today I feel like blogging. Stupid facebook..:p Kinda silly to start blogging again about pasta...but I just made some...really really fresh homemade pasta from scratch...and I want to show my sisters....but I just don't feel like putting the pics on FB. So here goes...

I forgot to take a pic when we were rolling out the dough and putting it through the pasta machine...yeah I finally got one!
Anyway we made two different kinds...one kinda thin..and another thicker one macam fettucine.
And I bought Jamie's pasta sauce last weekend....thought i'd try.
Overall it was okay....making the pasta was tons fun though!
It'd be so nice if we could all make pasta together sometime....perhaps do lasagna or ravioli. :)

Last Sunday, Mommy, Cik Ti and I went to the Esplanade to watch the play 'The Love Story of Romzi & Juleha' by Teater Kami It's a play in Malay, based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, but set in post-war Singapore.

Romzi comes from a Bawean family, while Juleha is Javanese. So there was a lot of Boyan and Jawa mixed together with the Melayu. Wah not so easy to understand!

We absolutely loved the costumes and the pancaragam music! The acting was believable and I especially liked Buang's (Benvolio) character. The downer was the makcik and pakcik sitting beside Mommy who kept 'interacting' with the actors. The makcik actually shouted out 'Wah betul punye marah' when Tahjudeen (Tybalt) was doing his pissed off monologue. Haha cute ah makcik but damn annoying too.

Nyum-Nyum.

The weather was rather lovely a few weeks ago..so we barbecued quite a bit then.

DD bought a new bbq set!

We had some burgers...

And some steak and some tandoori chicken..

And some salmon...

And some mushrooms and lamb..

And we had some carpaccio too as usual :)

And I used some of my own herbs to marinate the meat! :))

Poh-land - A continuation...

Okay more Warsaw pics....

We named this the Polish Big Ben...up till today, I have absolutely no idea what its called....and i'm not particularly bothered to look it up either.

This pic shows me again :D...our favourite mall..the Zlote Tarasy...and of course..the same clock tower thing again...I think that's probley Warsaw's most significant landmark.

Warsaw...Poland??!

Haha...yup Nene and me were in Poland a few weeks ago...and I know we've all been super busy and lazy to blog..thanks to stupid stalkbook :p But I figured we should start posting here again...cause its definitely more fun reading old blog entries and such.

Anyway don't ask why we went to Poland...I guess Neno wanted to prove that she was over the Isabellaaaa-adalahhh incident :D

This was one of the first things we saw...yup I have secretly been creating my own line of beauty products in Poland :p (and DD, stop calling me that...the same goes for you too Neno...)

Then it was the Polish National Day too...or something like that...so we saw part of the parade and stuff...

And these girl guides were handing out some kinda candy...

We also walked to the Old Town and Neno just had to have the Szyszki things...(hehe oh and wata cukrowa is cotton candy!!)

I got sick looking at her eat the stuff of course...hehe I think its some sorta popcorn ball...yuck.

We went on a tour of the Old Town too..that was quite fun...I liked the mini train!

An Expedition into the Heart of the Bols Distillery

So. Today we went to the premier Dutch tourist attraction of the Bols House in Amsterdam. This is by far the best museum i've ever been to. No boring pictures, stupid art or other shit. Instead, a small but effective exhibition on the sensory delights of the fine arts of distilling alcohol in many different flavoUrs :D

Best of all, you get a free cocktail with admission at the Mirror Bar! I had a great Chocolate or Cherry which actually included two chunks of nut laden chocolate! :D Yay!

I highly recommend a visit to this museum that is WAY better than the Van G

ogh or the Rijksmuseum. Even better, there's a shop with all the Bols Liqueurs where we stocked up on the flavours we were missing. Yummy :)

There's also a bartending academy at the Bols house... perhaps something to do?

Swedish Idol!

Okay I was really bored and felt like doing something crazy and out of the ordinary so what did I do?.....

I auditioned to be the next Swedish Idol!

Hahaha yes I did!

And it was fun! Cause I knew there was no way I was gonna get through and I was just there to take pictures and talk to the contestents trying out so I wasn't even all that nervous. At first I thought of just going in to check out the scnene but the crew guy wouldn't let me in unless I was auditioning! So I was forced to! But I'm glad I did.

Here's proof of my insanity:

These are the other people in my group. None of them got in. And some of them were really serious you know. Like this woman had a 5 month old baby and they drove like 170 km just so she could audition. And she took like voice classes and was making all these funny noises before her audition. But she didn't get in either!

Here's the scene. It was a two-day audition so most people came on the first day. There was hardly anyone at all on the Sunday! Ahh the last time I was at this place was when I went to the ball! We danced here!

So first we sat outside in a group, and then we were brought into this room where we waited a bit longer and then one by one, we went into another room where we finally sang in front of these 2 non-famous people who'd decide our fate. The ones who were chosen get to meet the real jury next week or something.

When I left and went outside, these 2 girls asked me if they could interview me for some magazine and took a pic of me! Oooh I feel like top pop star already! ;)

And here is the evidence that I really was there. So tak malu eh? Oh if anyone wondered, I sang 'Dream a little dream' and they said that I had a nice voice. :)

Skiing and The Simple Life

I was in this village in Dalarna over the weekend, where we stayed at this country house. It was pretty rustic and there was a fireplace and an old stove and everything. And a sauna too! Oh and the shower didn't work while we were there so we had to fill up buckets and shower like that. Very 'The Simple Life'. :)

The neighbouring house had a horse and these 2 really cute ponies!

We went hiking in the nearby forest and the scenery was really pretty.

And then on Saturday we went up to Sälen to go skiing!

And this was the slope I skied down (twice), well one and a half times. The 2nd time I gave up at the last stretch and walked down! I was the only one walking down the slope while everyone else skied!

And here I am, world champion skier. Or rather world's worst skier! Damn I didn't know it'd be so damn hard to ski! Have never felt so uncoordinated in my entire life!

Sweden - Stockholm

Since i'm in a bit of a blogging mood today...figured I should just continue posting stuff before I get start getting lazy again. Anyway we were also in Stockholm this month. Went there to catch the Alicia Keys concert! Whee!

Oh and I also met up with Nene..and we paid a visit to Mastura. She made a really yummy lunch for us.....aww...thank you again Mastura for the really kind hospitality! :)

And she had a lovely pretty cat too :)

Oh and I did a bit of shopping with Nene in town...and we bought tons of books! And we had some nice coffee and cake at John Chris...mm i want the pecan fudge slice...

We also had lunch at this place before we left for Arlanda. Hm..was it called the Verandah? I think it was at the Grand Hotel or something. I don't really remember clearly anymore. Getting old (:P)

HELLO:)

Yesterday I went to Cik Dek's house to see his rabbit. I was bored at home and I didn't have anything to do so I called him up. At first, he wasn't at home so I gave up and I went to Cik Ti's house instead. When I was at Cik Ti's house, Cik Ram called and told me that I could go to their house to see their rabbit. So I told Cik Ti and we went to their house together. Haha.

Haha. The rabbit's name is Rudy. Haha. Cik Ram and Cik Dek had 2 rabbits before they had Rudy. But the two rabbits died because they had diarrhoea. Poor thing. Anyway, Cik Ram was so sad that she bought Rudy. Haha! And this Rudy is so naughty. And he keeps eating. I fed him like 5 or 6 times and before I came, Cik Dek already fed him. Tsk! Haha. And when he's all tired and stone-ish, he'll just sleep wherever he wants to. Haha! He was playing with me so vigorously until suddenly he just fell asleep on my lap. Haha! So cute! I can't wait to go to their house again to play with Rudy! Haha. And Rudy makes me think of Princess :( I miss her.

Moving on to the dinner entertainment...

And we had to do a lot of singing (and toasting afterwards). Crazy Swedes.

And there was one part where we not only had to sing and toast, we had to do that standing on our chairs. Here are some senior citizens doing just that! Really crazy Swedes.

I was at the ball!

I was invited to the ball on 1st March 2008 at AF-borgen, this old castle used by the Academic Society nowadays in Lund. The ball was organized by Kistianstad Nation (Student Union) and it was called the Snapphanefesten.

During the first part of the ball, they had this ceremony where there was a lot of singing and giving out of 'titles' and medals

I got a medal as well and was appointed as some kinda maiden or god knows what. Couldn't obviously take a pic of myself when I was being appointed but here's proof!

After the ceremony there was a lot of mingling and then finally it was time for dinner which was a 4 hour event!

The starter was some kinda deer with hjortronsylt (cloudberry jam)

Main course was actually yummy. Chicken and potatoes.

Bokrea!

On the 26th of March, the nation-wide bokrea or book sale started here in Sweden and I read in the papers that the sale actually started at midnight! I was really curious if there'd actually be people in the bookstores in the dead of (a Monday) night to buy books! So my friend and I went to Akademibokhandeln in Lund to check it out!

There were tons of people standing in line to get in before the store opened! It was like going to a club except we were all a bunch of nerds! Revenge of the nerds!

And there were a lot of people inside the store too. I was disappointed that there weren't so many English books that were on sale :( but I did find some books to buy.

Her name is Yuxi and she's 4 years old. Hahah. And she's SOOOO CUTE but NAUGHTY!

Hahah. Me and Sheryl came late so all the other little kids went home. Aww! Hahah.

Shannon, Hazel, Kayxi, Yasmyn, Meiyee, Sheryl and me were the only ones there. Hahah. We played at the playground and after that we went swimming. Hahah! SUPER DUPER FUN!

We very childish right? Hahah. Nothing to do so we play playground. So fun! Hahah. And Yuxi and me have two things in common! Hahah. She loves little mermaid just like me! And she loves the colour PURPLE just like I do!!!!! Hahah! Isn't that coool???

Mommy, Nene dah beli kasut to match the dress. Lucky I found these shoes because it was so hard to find really pretty shoes. All the women's shoes in Sweden are not feminine at all and really ugly besides. And expensive. Aiyoh. Cantik tak? Can or not? And thank you again Ma and Ar for helping me get the dress! Love you guys!

Arlin I know I already showed you the bags but my webcam sucks so maybe you didn't see so good. Here's what they really look like.
